Aseară a avut loc ceremonia The Game Awards 2024, „Oscarurile lumii gaming-ului” așa cum sunt numite adesea. Într-un an în care nu am avut foarte multe titluri mari care să și confirme, bătălia pentru Game of the Year, cel mai bun titlu al anului 2024, nu a părut la fel de acerbă, iar câștigător s-a dovedit a fi Astro Bot, titlul realizat pentru PlayStation 5 de către Team Asobi și SIE. Tot Astro Bot a fost învingător și la Best Game Direction, Best Action/Adventure și Best Family Game, în timp ce premiile pentru cea mai bună poveste (Best Narrative) și Best Art Direction au ajuns la Metaphor: ReFantazio. Surpriza de la Game of the Year, Balatro, nu a plecat cu mâna goală, adjudecându-și trei trofee la finalul serii – Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie și Best Mobile Game.
Bineînțeles, de-a lungul serii am avut parte de o mulțime de anunțuri și trailere pentru jocuri noi, printre acestea numărându-se și un trailer surprinzător pentru Witcher 4, precum și un prim trailer pentru noul joc din seria Mafia: The Old Country.
